Working from home seems to be the trend for work in the U.S., and it has grown exponentially in the last few years. The percentage of employed adults in the US has risen to almost 14% which is more than double from 2019. The data collection company Search Logistics predicts that the number will rise to 22% in 2025.
As remote work continues to grow in popularity, new data reveals the most sought-after skills for remote workers in 2024, according to Search Logistics.

Matthew Woodward from Search Logistics explains, “Teamwork is critical in the remote workplace because it’s challenging to create a team feeling without physical contact.”
He adds that analytical thinking and software development are valuable across industries and can make job candidates more appealing to hire.
Whether someone is looking for a new job or trying to make the case for work from home to a current employer, “you need to be able to demonstrate that you have the necessary skills,” says Forbes Magazine. Doing so demonstrates your ability to work independently, collaborate effectively and contribute value to the company, regardless of physical location.

The tech sector and the IT field lead the remote work adoption, with approximately 26% of the remote worker population employed in these fields.
