A plane passenger got a lovely surprise when a man approached her and asked if he could swap seats with her so he could sit with his partner.

Laina, an avid traveler from Canada who shares her adventures on TikTok, revealed the joyous surprise online with a video that received 4.4 million views since it was posted on December 27.

After boarding her flight to San Francisco, Laina was approached by a man who said he would like to swap seats to sit next to his girlfriend. The kick? Laina got to take his first class seat at no extra charge.

"I had just sat down at my seat when a man approached me and stood beside my seat," she told Newsweek. "I was seated in the aisle seat and asked if he needed to get past me to get to his seat.

"That's when he asked if I would switch seats with him so that him and his girlfriend could sit together in economy. He offered me his seat in first class."

In her viral clip, Laina records herself in the first class seat, showing her generous legroom and a drink beside her. She reveals that it was her first time traveling in first class.

She wrote in the video's caption: "San Francisco trip is off to a great start. Thank you to the couple that made my day."

According to the United States National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), five percent of passengers opt for first class when booking flights.

Laina's video received over 1,000 comments from other TikTok users.

"You won but the gf WON," said @jell_jelly_jell.

CJaye commented: "Hope GF realizes what a keeper he is!"

"That's the way you ask for a seat change, upgrade the person you're asking to change," said @user5527101011885.

Erika commented: "I just be yapping on the airplane. I went to Florida a couple months ago just in case we crashed I wanted to yap to my people beside me. Good for you for letting them be together."

Erica Jones wrote: "My boyfriend and I just did this!! I was so happy I got to upgrade someone."

"That's how you switch seats politely... and GF marry him," said Wulfpuppy.
