NFL superstars Jason and Travis Kelce may be best friends and business partners, but there are certain things that they do not exactly see eye-to-eye on, and that includes their fashion choices.
This week, Jason Kelce announced an apparel line under his brand, Underdog, that includes a collection of sweatshirts and T-shirts made entirely in the United States.
Jason announced the news as part of an interview with The New York Times, where he opened up a little bit about the clothing line and his own fashion choices – and took a subtle shot at his brother's fashion choices in the process.
Jason's new Underdog clothing line is not exactly flashy. It's simple, rugged, and versatile – just the way he likes it. And he doesn't necessarily understand the allure of wearing anything different.
"I don't want to offend anybody, I never understood the reason that somebody would want to wear Gucci, or some of these high-end brands," Jason told The New York Times during a recent interview. "It's never appealed to me."
"I would much rather wear something that symbolized a blue-collar worker as opposed to a suit," Jason continued.
Intentional or not, this is some subtle shade thrown at his brother Travis, who often wears those high-end, luxury brands that Jason loathes – Gucci included.
In fact, at last year's US Open, Travis was seen with his pop star girlfriend Taylor Swift wearing a full Gucci outfit, complete with a flashy bucket hat featuring the brand's iconic red and green stripe.
Swift herself often wears high-end, designer clothing with the outfits she wears to Travis' games regularly including single items worth thousands of dollars.
Obviously, Jason said himself that he didn't intend to offend anyone with his words, and that obviously includes his brother and his brother's superstar girlfriend. Still, he made it very clear that he does not understand why someone would wear some of the flashy outfits they often choose to wear.
The good news is that in recent years, the two of them have seemingly grown quite comfortable with their differences and maintain a close relationship despite them. So it's unlikely that Travis will take any strong offense to Jason's words.
