The co-founders of a growing in-home pet euthanasia company just announced they’ve expanded their service to help pet owners with end-of-life care in Mahoning County.
Karen Whala, Bethany Hsia and Gary Hsia started CodaPet, a company with local licensed veterinarians ready to assist across 80 cities in the U.S.
“As an in-home euthanasia veterinarian, I repeatedly hear the heartfelt gratitude and the relief a family feels when they have been able to grant their pet this gift. It is my wish that every family in Youngstown become aware of at-home pet euthanasia so they may provide a peaceful and compassionate end-of-life experience for their beloved pets when their time comes.” said Whala.
Now, CodaPet is working with Dr. Brianna Fowler to bring in-home euthanasia services to pet owners in Youngstown and surrounding areas.
“I want to provide convenience and stress-free end-of-life care to owners and pets,” said Fowler.
Fowler has been working with pets for ten years. She graduated from Michigan State University and Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine.
CodaPet is available for pet owners in Youngstown, Warren, Massillon, Canfield, Ellsworth, North Jackson, Mineral Ridge, Mc Donald, Greenford, Berlin Center, North Lima, Warren, Niles, Girard, Campbell and surrounding areas.
What are the benefits of in-home end-of-life care and how does it work?
At the appointment, the veterinarian assists the family by going over the diagnosis and applying a quality-of-life assessment to objectively assess the pet’s health and ensure there is no uncertainty about the need for euthanasia.
In-home pet euthanasia also allows pet owners to have more control over the process by choosing the time and place of the euthanasia, as well as who will be present.
Believing that euthanasia is a deeply personal decision, Fowler offers in-home services to ensure pets can pass in the comfort of familiar surroundings, surrounded by love.
As part of CodaPet, she values the opportunity to support and comfort pet owners, hear their stories and honor the unique lives of their beloved companions.
For those who need support with aftercare, the veterinarian can assist with transportation and cremation services.
How much does CodaPet cost?
The CodaPet visits take approximately 45 minutes.
The cost of in-home euthanasia starts at $350 in Youngstown.
Aftercare begins at $75 for communal cremation, but the final price depends on factors such as the driving distance, the pet’s size and the option for private or communal cremation. The company also offers out-of-hours appointments for an additional fee.
