Officers with the Youngstown Police Department investigated after reports gunshots were fired around a gas station on East Midlothian Boulevard.

The incident happened before midnight on Saturday, according to police reports.

An employee at Shell told police he heard one or two gunshots at first around 11:30 p.m. while inside the gas station on East Midlothian Boulevard.

He said once he “realized that they were gunshots, he ducked behind the corner when he heard approximately eight or nine more shots,” according to YPD.

According to reports from YPD, the witness told police that before the shooting, there was only one car at the gas station, a black Dodge Charger, which had been parked at one of the pumps for about 15 minutes.

While searching, police reports say officers found a spent 7.62 shell casing in the middle of East Midlothian Boulevard.

They also found a deformed bullet closer to the Shell gas station, and a deformed bullet jacket in the parking lot.

Officers did find damage believed to be caused by the bullet near one of the doors at Shell.

No other information was available on Tuesday as police continue their investigation.
