An Ohio man is in Trumbull County jail facing an aggravated arson charge after the manager of the Budget Motel on Route 5 in Braceville put out a fire in a mattress in a room on Friday, according to a press release.
State fire marshal investigator and sheriff deputies later arrested Justin Chill, 44, who was found sitting in a vehicle at a nearby hotel and then questioned about the Budget Motel fire.
Trumbull County 911 reports stated that smoke was coming out of Room 122 and someone in Room 121 alerted management of the situation.
At the time, the unoccupied room sustained moderate damage, reports stated. The manager used a fire extinguisher to put out the blaze.
Chill could face more charges due to windows being smashed in a vehicle that was parked at the motel, 911 reports stated.
Chill was arraigned Monday in Newton Falls Municipal Court.
