The Youngstown Police Department are investigating a man shot to death in his vehicle at a Mahoning Valley intersection.

Officials said in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 8 police were dispatched to the intersection of Gibson and Poland Avenues for reports of a person shot inside a vehicle.

According to reports, when officers arrived they discovered that victim Raymond Butler, 28, had been shot in the vehicle he was driving. Officers, along with emergency medical personnel, attempted life saving measures but were unsuccessful.

Butler was pronounced deceased at the scene and the Youngstown Police Department Detective Division, along with the Crime Scene Unit and Mahoning County Coroner’s Office, were summoned to collect evidence, interview witnesses and continue the investigation.

Official said there were numerous people in the area at the time this incident occurred and someone may have seen or heard something that could further this case and help to bring justice to Butler and some closure to his family.
