A murder investigation is underway in Youngstown after man shot to death, according to the Youngstown Police Department.
A murder investigation is underway in Youngstown after man shot to death, according to the Youngstown Police Department.

Youngstown Police Department is investigating a man shot and killed as well as multiple houses hit by gunfire during the shooting.

Shortly after midnight on Wednesday, June 18, the department received numerous phone calls of shots fired in the 900 block of Lanterman Avenue, according to officials.

Upon arrival, police said they found a man, 18, shot. Although life saving measures were attempted, officials said the man died later at Mercer Health.

Youngstown Police Department Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit were dispatched to the scene and began collecting evidence and speaking with neighbors. While speaking with neighbors officials said it was found that several homes had also been inadvertently hit by gunfire during the shooting.

The Youngstown Police Department Detective Division, along with the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office, are investigating the incident.

Officials said no further information will be released at this time.

Tips leading to an arrest and/or prosecution are eligible for a monetary reward, according to the department.

The department is asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (330) 746-CLUE or (330) 742-8YPD, which may be left anonymously.
