Former President Donald Trump will have a rally at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown on Sept. 17 to support U.S. Senate candidate J.D. Vance.
Parking lots will open at 8 a.m. Doors will open at 2 p.m. Guest speakers will deliver remarks at 4 p.m., and Trump is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. The rally will include entertainment and concessions throughout the day, according to the release.
General admission tickets for the rally are available here.
Vance, a Republican, will face U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th, for Ohio’s open U.S. Senate seat in the Nov. 8 midterm election.
Vance won the Republican nomination in May after receiving support from the former president.
“Now this campaign, I really think, was a referendum on what kind of a Republican Party we want, and what kind of a country we want,” Vance told the crowd after winning the nomination in May.
Trump’s visit comes amid a Justice Department investigation into classified documents and other government records the former president was keeping at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida. On Monday, a federal judge granted Trump’s request for a special master to review the documents that were seized by the FBI last month.
As the November election nears, Trump’s visit is the latest in a series of big campaign stops in the Mahoning Valley.
Vance attended an event at the Metroplex Expo Center in Liberty on Aug. 19, along with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a potential 2024 presidential candidate.
Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., attended an event at the Eastwood Event Centre in Niles on Aug. 22 for state Rep. Mike Loychik, R-Bazetta. Loychik is facing independent candidate Jennifer Donnelly for the Ohio House 65th District seat.
President Joe Biden will also be in Ohio this week. Ryan will join Biden on a visit to Licking County on Friday for the groundbreaking of Intel’s new semiconductor manufacturing facility.
