After months of hearing “Go to Gringo’s” from a variety of people when I asked for food recommendations in the Mahoning Valley area, I followed through and went there.

I wasn’t disappointed. Gringo’s was great.

Where is Gringo’s?

Gringo’s has two locations in the Mahoning Valley, their original location in downtown Youngstown, 24 N. Phelps St., and a newly opened express location in Niles at 41 Vienna Ave.

I wanted to try the express version and was delighted at what I found.

I was quickly greeted by Aaron when I walked inside. Once he heard I was a new customer, he patiently explained the menu, which offered authentic Mexican favorites as well as pizza.

The look and taste of the food was excellent.

I ordered two grilled chicken tacos at $4 apiece and they were filling.

“Everything is made from scratch,” Aaron said.

The express location was a small dining room where you could eat inside.
