Meet Brian Fry, the owner of the newest restaurant opening this week in Poland, The Barrel Room. He’s getting ready for customers from Poland, New Middleton and the Mahoning Valley area to visit his new restaurant and bar this weekend.

The Barrel Room at 5 Points opens this Thursday at 10 a.m. at 9065 Springfield Road Suite H in Poland.

Salute to service on Friday, school pride on Saturday

Then on Friday, the owner said The Barrel Room is celebrating customers in the military and front lines as first responders.

Active-duty military, veterans, first responders and family members can get complimentary food and discounts on drinks at The Barrel Room on Friday.

They’re asking everyone to bring their military or first responder identification with them to the event from 4 - 9 p.m.

On Saturday, there’s one more grand opening celebration from noon - 9 p.m. at The Barrel Room, according to Fry.

Customers are encouraged to show their school pride by wearing their shirts showcasing their local school or alma mater.

Anyone who attends a local school, their parents, local teachers and any school employees will receive complimentary appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks.

Participate in a free wine education course with Fry and grab an appetizer from the buffet.

The Barrel Room is open from 4 - 10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday in Poland.

Journey to opening The Barrel Room in Poland

In 2023, Fry began the process of opening the new restaurant at 5 Points in Poland.

He said it wasn’t an easy year; he recovered from an illness during first half of the year, then sustained serious injuries in a car accident last October.

“I know I have been fortunate in my life. I never imagined I would own two amazing restaurants. 2023 was a year I want to put behind me as soon as possible. It tested my resolve to work in this business, and it wasn’t a sure thing I that would make it back,” said Fry.

He used to own the Barrel33 restaurant in Howland, which he sold at the end of 2023 to focus on opening The Barrel Room.

“I loved my Howland location. It will always have a special place in my heart. At the same time, I knew that Five Points was my future. Now, I am really looking forward to see what we can do,” Fry said. “This is the first restaurant I created from scratch from an empty shell. I hope people will like what they see, and taste.”
