An employee at GLI Pool Products in Youngstown allegedly threatened to kill his supervisor and shot his handgun in the air after he was disciplined earlier in the day during his shift.

Youngstown police were called to the store on Thursday after employees reported that the suspect, John Clinton, had come into the store seemingly drunk, according to a police report.

The employees told police that one of the supervisors had spoken to Clinton earlier in the day for an improper action at work that was left unspecified in the report. This caused Clinton to walk out upset.

He allegedly came back later in the day intoxicated while other employees were on break and threatened to kill three of his supervisors and shoot up the business, according to the police report. He then went inside his white Chrysler and fired a handgun in the air before driving away toward Division Street.

Police officers found three spent handgun casings outside the store. They also reviewed surveillance footage and saw Clinton enter his car but did not see Clinton fire the gun from his car, according to the report.

Youngstown police logged the casings into evidence and are continuing to investigate the matter.
