(EDITOR’S NOTE: Youngstown police reported shots were fired at midnight Tuesday at an unidentified business on Mahoning Avenue. The shooting did not happen at Fusion Barbershop, as incorrectly reported in an article posted July 3).

A local business was shot multiple times by unknown individuals in a car on Tuesday, according to a police report.

The report stated that Youngstown police were dispatched to a business on Mahoning Avenue. Officers reviewed security camera footage showing a dark-colored car, which officers suspect to be a Mercedes-Benz, pulling up in front of the shop just past midnight.

The officer reportedly then saw someone open the door on the driver’s side and shoot directly into the business several times. People near the scene told officers that they had heard the loud bangs but did not see who had done the damage, according to the report. No one was reported to be injured during the incident.

Youngstown police were able to extract 12 spent shell casings from inside the business.

An employee also reported to police that the camera directly behind the shop was cut, the light was pulled out and some kind of explosive was shoved into the security door of the business, according to the report.

Officers were not able to make out the license plate of the vehicle but determined that the vehicle escaped by going eastbound on Mahoning Avenue, reports indicated. The case remains under investigation.
