RAY MASHORDA: Dominic Tocco should be recognized next with a star on the Youngstown Walk of Fame

The Inaugural Youngstown Walk of Fame will be unveiled at Wean Park on July 4.

I recently saw that Kool & the Gang received a star, and I would like to very much nominate Dominic Tocco for a star. Dominic has been a top local singer for over 62 years in the Mahoning Valley.

He is a green beret veteran and has served his country proudly. Everyone in the valley knows his name and he still packs them in when he performs, young and old. He has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer. It is in the very early stages and of course, no one knows the outcome.

I think it would be a fabulous tribute to a man that the Mahoning Valley has spent 60+ years entertaining the residents of Youngstown and the surrounding areas.

My family and Dominic’s go back 75 years, and I’ve been following his band since I was 19. He’s a really good person, a great family man, well respected. There’s been a lot of great bands in Youngstown through my life, but none have stood the test of time like Dominic.

Sincerely,

Ray Mashorda
