A 38-year-old Howland Township man was arrested and charged with aggravated menacing after a Niles woman reported to police that her boyfriend threatened to choke her and punch her 6-year-old son.

Police reported that the two had argued on the telephone sometime Thursday, July 18 when the threats were made.

A Niles police report stated the woman was distraught after the phone call and was worried the man was going to come over to the house after he finished work and carry out the threats. She told officers the man told her to “prepare to die.”

The report stated Peter N. Strineka Jr., 38, of Carriage Hill Drive NE was arrested at his home without incident about 7:30 p.m. on July 18.
