Youngstown native and former Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton is reportedly considering a run at state politics, including a potential run to be Ohio governor in 2026.

Acton made the comments Tuesday morning at an Ohio Democratic Party breakfast during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Acton served as Ohio Department of Health Director under Republican Governor Mike DeWine from 2019-2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

After stepping down, she considered a run for U.S. Senate, but decided against it.
