Rescheduled First Friday to be held this week in downtown Youngstown

First Friday has been rescheduled for 4-8 p.m. in downtown Youngstown after severe weather last week.

The Chalk the Walk extravaganza will be held on and near Phelps Street in Youngstown.

Artists who want to participate in a chalk art contest are encouraged to sign up online. Still, downtown businesses are also able to decorate the sidewalks outside themselves. Kids and families can check out the Chalk Art Creation area hosted by Students Motivated by the Arts.

The Butler Institute of American Art and SMARTS will provide limited chalk. Participants are asked to bring their own water-based chalk if they can.

In addition to chalk art, the free festival will have food and drink specials, a vendor market, art exhibits, and family-oriented activities.

Jack and the Cadavers will perform from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on the Phelps Street Stage and Stepping Out Fitness will offer line dancing at 5:30 p.m. at the Octave Live Music Cafe and Event Center.
