This year, the Eastern Regional Trick Dog Expo Tridex is back for an extra day of tail-wagging trick and canine conditioning at the Collingwood Center in Campbell.

Dogs will be traveling in from West Virginia, Pennsylvania and cities throughout Ohio for the Eastern Regional Trick Dog Expo Tridex during the first weekend of October.

They’re participating in morning and afternoon workshops learning new tricks, stunts, conditioning routines and even acting.

Dogs and owners from around the area are invited to participate in the workshops.

This event is in conjunction with the Do More With Your Dog and title programs created by Kyra Sundance.

Specialty titles have been added this year, according to Patty Stafford, advisory board member of Do More With Your Dog.

“This is the second year this exciting new event has been brought to the Mahoning Valley and the Tri-Sate regional area,” said Stafford.

Dogs and owners will perform tricks to inspire and entertain audiences, with Do More With Your Dog as the official governing and sanctioning body for the sport of dog tricks, according to Stafford.

“It’s great to be able to accommodate such a great event and unique to our area. We are happy to have them back, the dogs are amazing and so well behaved,” said Julie Collingwood, owner of the Collingwood Center.

The expo is Oct. 5 - 6 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Collingwood Center, located 633 Porter Ave. in Campbell.

Admission to the event is $25 and includes all workshops.

To register, contact Stafford at (330) 550-5547 or by sending an email to pands2009@yahoo.com for the application and waiver.

There’s no prior experience needed to participate in conditioning.

Organizers said conditioning helps puppies’ coordination, confidence and mental focus.

Canine conditioning fitness coaches will be offering participants hands-on workshops demonstrating canine fitness equipment for dogs.

No prior experience is required.

Competitions and animal acting

Tridex is offering judged Stunt Dog Trials at the event.

Stunt Dog is a trick routine that can be performed in front of a live audience; according to Tridex, judges will be looking at novice, open, proven, professional and champion levels.

Participants in the Stunt Dog Ring Trial first need to earn the correlating Do More With Your Dog! Trick Dog Title prior to entering the Stunt Dog Ring.

Once a dog has earned a Trick Dog Title it is eligible to earn a Stunt Dog Title in the Stunt Dog Ring Trial.

According to organizers, they’ll have Do More With Your Dog trick title testing available on site with certified trick dog instructors at the expo for those who haven’t received their Do More With Your Dog titles yet.
