On Monday, members of the Ohio Farmers Union, local veterans and farmers met in Kinsman for the ‘Rural Buckeyes for Sherrod’ event.

Attendees advocated for reelecting Sen. Sherrod Brown and praised his decisions in office to support local agriculture and Ohio farmers.

“Earlier this year, Sherrod worked across the aisle to allow E-15 fuel to be sold throughout the summer, lowering gas costs for Ohioans and benefiting corn farmers like myself,” said local farmer Tim Bonar. “Sherrod has always been willing to put party politics aside, work across the aisle, and do what’s right for our state – that’s what makes him different.”

Since 2018, officials said agriculture has been a priority for Sen. Brown, namely the Farm Bill and working with the Environmental Protection Agency to lower energy prices for Ohioans.

Currently, the senator is working to start a crop insurance program and high-speed internet in rural communities.

“We know exactly where Sherrod stands, he stands on the side of Ohioans. From creating jobs and economic opportunities in rural communities to protecting access to rural healthcare, cutting costs, and supporting Ohio farmers, Sherrod supports all Ohioans – no matter who they are, where they live, or what they do,” said Ohio Farmers Union president Joe Logan.
