Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced he will join students at Austintown High School on Thursday, April 3, as part of the office’s Grads Vote initiative.

Additionally, students from Canfield High School, Boardman High School and Poland Seminary will join the event.

The Ohio Secretary of State’s office and the Mahoning County Board of Elections will help students participate in a mock election using real voting equipment, according to LaRoses’ office.

LaRose will also speak with the students about the importance of being civically engaged, registering to vote, and opportunities to serve as poll workers.

LaRose said every Spring, all Ohio high schools receive voter registration packets to distribute to graduating seniors as part of the Grads Vote initiative. The packet includes information on how to get registered to vote and how to become a poll worker.

The event will take place from 12 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Austintown High School.
