Northeast Ohio investigators seek public’s help in fatal Akron fire
Investigators with the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal Fire and Explosion Investigations Bureau are asking members of the public to share any information they might have regarding a deadly fire that took place last December in Akron.
Tips are being sought in an effort to identify those responsible for the fire.
Officials said at 5:50 p.m. on Dec. 7, 2024, the Akron Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1106 Vernon Odom Blvd. As a result of the fire, one woman was killed and a second person inside the home was injured. In addition, two Akron firefighters were injured while fighting the fire.
The Blue Ribbon Arson Committee and Crime Stoppers are offering a combined reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the indictment and conviction of those responsible.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the State Fire Marshal’s tip line at 800-589-2728. All tips will be thoroughly investigated, and callers can remain anonymous.
The Akron Fire Department, Akron Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are also assisting in this investigation.
