YSU’s Bowling National Championship celebration set for Wednesday on campus

There will be a public celebration for Youngstown State’s bowling team winning the National Championship on Wednesday, April 23, at Zidian Family Arena at Beeghly Center on YSU’s campus.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 6 with the introduction of the team’s nine student-athletes and coaching staff. Head Coach Doug Kuberski will be among the list of speakers on the agenda, and there will be a question-and-answer session with members of the team.
There will also be an opportunity for photos and autographs with the Penguins, and championship merchandise will be available for purchase.
Parking will be available in the M-81 lot between Stambaugh Stadium and the Watson and Tressel Training Site.
The Penguins beat Jacksonville State 4-3 in the championship match on Saturday evening at the Suncoast Bowling Center in Las Vegas. It was YSU’s first national championship ever in a women’s sport and its first in any sport since 1997.
