The National Transportation Safety Board opened an investigation into a fatal private plane crash in a Howland backyard.

Crews were dispatched before 7 a.m. on June 29 to a wooded area behind a home on King Graves Road NE, according to the Howland Township Fire Department.

Emergency crews including the Howland Fire Department and the Youngstown Air Reserve Fire Department stayed on the scene until close to 8 p.m.

All six occupants on the plane were deceased at the scene, according to officials.

The small aircraft crashed about two kilometers west of the departure point at Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport.

The NTSB is investigating the twin-engine Cessna 441 Conquest II crash and will determine the cause.

The identities of the passengers and pilots killed in the crash have not been released.

The occupants were on their way to Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport in Montana.

Many departments responded to the large-scale emergency, including the Vienna Fire Department, Fowler Fire Department, Trumbull County Emergency Management Agency, Trumbull County Drone Team, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Cortland Fire Department, Ohio EPA and the Federal Aviation Administration.
