In one of the most contentious races on ballots in the Mahoning Valley, Republican state Sen. Michael Rulli of Salem, R-33rd, was elected to a second four-year term Tuesday, defeating Democrat Bob Hagan of Youngstown.
In state House races:
Rep. Al Cutrona of Canfield, R-59th, defeated Canfield City Councilman Bruce Neff, a Democrat, for the 58th District seat.
Youngstown City Councilwoman Lauren McNally, a Democrat, defeated independent candidates Eric Ungaro, a Poland Township trustee, and Gregory Beight of New Springfield for the 59th District seat.
Republican Nick Santucci of Howland defeated Democrat Vincent Peterson of Howland for the 64th District seat.
Rep. Mike Loychik of Bazetta, R-63rd, defeated independent candidate Jennifer Donnelly of Cortland for the 65th District seat.
