204,900 cans of beef stew recalled after customers found wood inside

Reports of wood inside Dinty Moore Beef Stew led to Hormel Foods recalling the product Wednesday.
“The problem was discovered after the establishment notified (USDA Food Safety Inspection Service) that it had received three consumer complaints reporting pieces of wood in the beef stew product,” the USDA’s recall notice stated.

The recall covers 256,185 pounds or about 204,948 20-ounce cans of the stew with a best by time of February 2028 and lot No. T02045 on the can. The lot number might have an extra number at the end. These cans carry “EST 199G,” meaning they came out of Hormel Foods facility at 3367 Montreal Industrial Way in Tucker, Georgia.

If you have one of these cans of stew, return it to the store for a refund. Or, throw it in the trash. But don’t eat it.
