The Mega Millions jackpot has soared to an incredible $1.22 billion, for the Friday, December 27 drawing, according to an Ohio Lottery press release.

This jackpot has a cash option prize of $549.7 million.

This jackpot is the 5th largest in Mega Millions history. If someone wins, it would be the largest Mega Millions prize ever won in December.

Ohio’s last Mega Millions jackpot was sold at Giant Eagle in Mentor on December 17, 2019. The winner of the auto-pick ticket claimed the $372 million jackpot in a trust.

Mega Millions tickets are $2 each and players can add the Megaplier for an additional $1 to multiply their non-jackpot prizes.

Pools close for Mega Millions and Megaplier at 10:45 p.m., with the drawing taking place at approximately 11:00 p.m.
