For most people, having a best friend means sharing life’s highs and lows and everything in between. For two Ohio women, it also now means sharing a lottery jackpot prize.

Best friends Brandy Teets and Christine Davis were on a camping trip with their husbands when they decided to stop and buy lottery tickets, according to a Sept. 9 news release from the Ohio Lottery.

“We bought a whole bunch of them,” Teets told lottery officials. “My husband and I went in $50, so they went in $50.”

After bringing the tickets back to the camper, Teets told lottery officials Davis only scratched a few before she was screaming “We have $100,000.”

Davis revealed the top prize on a $5 Buckeye Cash game, lottery officials said.

“My husband looked as pale as a ghost and was going to pass out,” Teets said, per the release. “Her and I were jumping and screaming and hugging each other. Her husband was in disbelief.”

The friends will take home $72,000 after state and federal taxes, and plan to split their winnings evenly, getting $36,000 each, lottery officials said.

The winning ticket was purchased at a Circle K in Lodi.

Lodi is about a 45-mile drive southwest from Cleveland.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.
