Shy 16-year-old shelter cat desperately needs a home. He keeps getting ignored

A shelter in Philadelphia is advocating hard for a sweet senior feline, saying no cat his age should have to spend their golden years in a kennel.
Speedo is no stranger to the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) or social media, since both have made him quite the figure around the Keystone State.
“When we first introduced Speedo to the world, thousands of people shared his story,” the shelter said in a June 5 Facebook post.
And while the shelter has been sharing his story for months now, the cat with soulful eyes keeps getting ignored.
“So many felt for him… but no one came in to adopt.”
A few months back, the shelter made a plea for Speedo, a tabby who was surrendered after his owner could no longer care for him, since he is in the winter of his life.
“At this stage of Speedo’s life, he simply craves a quiet, soft place to lay and feel safe. He is often just resting quietly in his kennel, never drawing much attention to himself,” the shelter said in a March 12 post.
“He will come around for his favorite snacks, but the truth is, Speedo is just an older cat who isn’t looking for too much. His world has changed so many times and now all he wants is to settle down and feel loved.”
Now, the shelter is pleading on behalf of the frightened fella.
“Tomorrow, this quiet, old soul turns 16 years old - a milestone that should be celebrated in a loving home, not in a shelter,” the shelter continued in its June post.
“We’re going to be honest, Speedo most likely won’t be ... your typical lap cat. He’s shy. He keeps to himself. Life hasn’t been easy for him and his walls are there for a reason. But behind those walls is a cat who deserves comfort, safety, and love in his golden years… even if he doesn’t know how to ask for it.”
