Take a look at this week’s Mahoning Matters Super 7 high school baseball ranking

Defending D2 state champion West Branch leads the mahoningmatters.com Super 7 baseball rankings for a second consecutive week. Here’s a look at this week’s poll:
West Branch
West Branch went on the road to Girard and recorded a 2-1 win over the Indians last Saturday in a pitcher’s duel to remain No. 1 in the ratings.
West Branch star senior pitcher Anthony Perry, who was the winning pitcher in last year’s state title win over Hamilton Badin, earned the win Saturday against Girard while striking out six Indian batters.
West Branch, which is now a D4 member of the OHSAA is 1-0 on the season.
Canfield
Canfield is No. 2 in the rankings.
The tradition-rich Cardinals, who have qualified for the state tournament on three different occasions and won the state crown in 2007, opened their 2025 campaign with an impressive 6-1 road victory over the Massillon Tigers at Carl “Ducky” Schroeder Field last week.
The Cardinals, who were previously in Division II, are now a Division IV member in the OHSAA’s new seven division format.
Warren JFK
Warren JFK, which is expecting another big season in its new Division VII classification, is No. 3 in the ratings.
The Eagles, who qualified for the regional last spring, opened the season with a 3-0 shutout win over the Salem Quakers last Saturday, scoring two runs in the first inning and never looking back.
South Range
Perennial power South Range is No. 4 in the rankings.
The Raiders are expected to be one of the top schools in Division V after being classified as a D3 member of the OHSAA in previous seasons.
The Raiders won the state baseball title in 2018.
Warren Harding
Warren Harding holds down the No. 5 spot in the mahoningmatters.com Super 7 poll.
The Raiders initiated the season last Friday by recording an 11-5 win over Bristol Panthers.
Harding has been reclassified from Division I to Division II in the OHSAA’s seven division format.
Columbiana
Columbiana, which is expected to be a power in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference, is No. 6 in the ratings.
The Clippers exploded for a 27-0 win over the Wellsville Tigers in their season-opening EOAC game last Friday.
The Clippers have been reassigned to Division VI this season.
Springfield
Springfield Local rounds out this week’s rankings at No. 7.
The Tigers rolled to an 8-1 win over the Champion Golden Flashes last week.
Springfield is 1-0 on the season.
The Tigers will compete in Division VI this spring after being a Division III OHSAA member in prior years.
