Texas hit it out of the park with the hiring of Steve Sarkisian as its head football coach in 2021.
Since then, Sarkisian developed an improved culture in Austin and has led the Longhorns to back-to-back College Football Playoff semifinals. Texas also reached the SEC Championship Game its first year in the conference.
The continuity of the coaching staff has played a crucial role in Texas' recent success. Sarkisian has been able to retain offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Kyle Flood, special teams coordinator Jeff Banks, and defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski over the last four seasons.
Texas is the only program that has had the same head coach and coordinators over the last four years. That's a rare feat in today's day and age as up-and-coming coaches often get plucked by other schools for a greater role. We've seen it happen with a few position coaches at Texas such as Tashard Choice, Blake Gideon, and Brennan Marion the last few seasons.
While Flood, Banks, and Kwiatkowski have likely been contacted for head coach roles elsewhere, their belief in Sarkisian's system and goals to remain in Austin speaks volumes to players and recruits across the country.

From a football standpoint, players being able to develop under the same coordinator for consecutive seasons is more valuable than one would think. There was a period of time where players like DeMarvion Overshown had to learn a new system under three different defensive coordinators at Texas.
Sarkisian clearly has the Texas football program headed in the right direction and the expectations are higher than they've ever been heading into the 2025 season.
Texas will kick off the season in Columbus against Ohio State on Aug. 30.
